Seriously though, Trader Dan insisted I have one these a while ago considering my work as an audio engineer. When I need to shine a light across a large auditorium to show someone where to point something I can with the 7060 regardless of the lighting conditions. Even with stage lights on I can shoot this light up to 100’ grid over stage with no problem (and in the dark I could illuminate someone’s path from a 100’ away).
Which leads to my somewhat humorous complaint. When I’m climbing behind a console or an effects rack I don’t need a freaking spotlight, and a much smaller torch would do just fine. But hey, I’m not really complaining. I’m just gonna pick up a smaller clip on light or heads up. Nothing like having the right tool for the job.
And that’s another thing I love about the 7060. Even with all that power it’s light weight and I can shove it my back pocket no problem, so it’s no hassle to have with me.
It feels good in the hand. I was weirded out by the octagonal grip at first but it is really comfortable hold and as designed, it won’t roll around if you just toss it down.
And about tossing it down, this thing is a Pelican so it is crazy tough. I don’t worry about being gentle with it. Things get hectic when you are loading in a show and the last thing I need is to worry about my flashlight getting broken from a little (or big fall).
Pelican just released the 8060LED, a bigger version of the 7060. But even with it’s longer burn time, for my personal use it’s a little bigger than I want to stuff in my pocket.
Lastly, I will just say that it is also very cool feeling all bad ass blinding friends and people on the side of the road (not really) like some kind of hard nosed cop.
A ton of fun.
