Yesterday I posted an announcement for the Mozilla Firefox Download Day attempt for a world record for the most downloads in a single day.
Well, after trying for nearly an hour to get onto the Spread Firefox server to do my part and the connection timing out repeatedly I finally got on. It makes you wonder what kind of server setup they have going on to even hope to handle a world record breaking load. I’m always impressed by such feats, my lowly can barely handle having Photoshop and a browser open ;) (hopefully the memory leaking/hogging is fixed in Firefox 3 – the only real complaint I had, but still far better than IE).
A few moment ago my download completed so I’m off to experience the joys of an even better Firefox. I took a sneak peak a week or so ago with one of the release candidates and just the improved auto-complete in the address bar got me excited, but too many of my add-ons weren’t upgraded to version 3 yet so I uninstalled it. Maybe some of these (firebug being the most important) have been migrated to version 3, but if not, Jason told me there was an add-on that would allow the install of version 2 add-ons in the meantime. Hopefully he will post the name of it and a link here when he sees the post :)
If you are using Firefox 2 or still using some other lesser browser, be sure to help with the world record attempt and get yourself some might fine browsing power by downloading Firefox 3 at spreadfirefox.com
