Sick of always being in a hurry? Carl Honore discusses the SLOW movement
beingzoe almost 2 years ago | 1 response

In the modern era life has become more and more hectic, fast paced, and harried. We’ve got to stay ahead of the market, respond instantly to phone calls / emails / text messages, meet that next deadline to get our next incentive. Even our home lives have been sped up attempting to squeeze more and more into every day.

But maybe we need to consider slowing down. Is it possible or even desirable for us to slow down? I’m not sure, but in this video Carl Honore , author of, In praise of slowness discusses what “slowness” means in the modern era and steps various people are taking to slow down their hurried lives and live a little.

This video is a TED Talk . If you aren’t familiar with TED visit their website. Below is a brief explanation from their website:

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from those three worlds. Since then its scope has become ever broader.

The annual conference now brings together the world’s most fascinating thinkers and doers, who are challenged to give the talk of their lives (in 18 minutes).

Our mission: Spreading ideas.

Trader Dan

I wanted to slow down which is why I started the trading post, but it sure hasn’t been working out that way! Guess I can’t complain that things are going well, but I’m gonna check out Carl’s book and see if I can’t get some tips for balancing the load!
