Facility Management information from GreenerBuildings

The broad category of facility management addresses a wide range of topics, including:

  • waste management
  • water conservation
  • energy efficiency
  • use of non-toxic cleaning and maintenance materials (pollution prevention)
  • resource-efficient groundskeeping

Improved performance in any one of these areas can produce tangible savings for the business-savvy facility manager.

Buildings generate waste during operation; can have poor indoor air quality, affecting worker health; and produce roughly a third of carbon dioxide emissions and other emissions that harm air quality. By improving and streamlining day-to-day building operations, facility managers can create and maintain a better work environment while netting big financial dividends for their organization.

Real people; getting the job done

A place for everybody who works in the trenches maintaining and engineering modern society and keep our world running. Discuss work, share stories, and relate.

Most of the time we are invisible, but we keep the world running. You see our trucks driving down the freeway full of cargo, on the way to repair the infrastructure of civilization, fixing those roads, building homes, offices, retail outlets, maintaining and improving those same buildings. We get power, water, and telecommunications to you. You call us when something breaks.

If the above describes you, welcome. You have found a group of people who like talking shop. Share your experiences, your frustrations, your successes, and even your failures. Help fellow hardworking folk out if they have questions or need advice.

And we all want to see pictures of your job sites, the facility you maintain, and all the interesting stuff you see from our unique vantage points. So post some pictures and tell us about them.

If not don’t hesitate to post a story with questions and comments. While we tend to be invisible and working sometimes thankless jobs, we are good hardworking people who would be happy to talk with you.
