My name is Tammy and I am here to inspire San Diego County to be a part of Earth Hour 2009, the global lights out movement. For info go to http://earthhour.org
I envision a night when the youth of the city and suburbia will, perhaps for the first time, be able to see what a truly starry night is, just by walking out of their front doors.
To create a dramatic effect we need everyone’s help!
Right now I need people to sign up to be the leader of their city in organizing letter writing campaigns to contact the mayor. The goal is to get the city to pledge to turn off all non-essential lighting at the appointed hour,to encourage them to promote the event to local businesses and to plan fun “dark” events at city parks.
I am also here to help plan and organize various creative events throughout the county. I am dreaming of starry nights filled with laughter, acoustic music events, dancing, neighborhood parades and talent shows before lights out, candlelight dinners, BBQ’s, astronomical lectures and telescope viewing, environmental info booths, games… The goal of starry night is to inspire people to come together and celebrate living!
Please contact me with your ideas or to help promote starry night. There is much fun to be had!
Thank you so much for just being you Tammy! I respect you so much and the positive influence you have in my life.
Wonderful inspiration Tammy! Thank you for everything you do, I look forward to helping in any way I can (in or out of the county) and I am certain I can conceive a zany idea or two to contribute to the cause.
Hugs, ily
Tammy you truly are an inspiration!
We go up to the mountains just to see the stars, anything we can do to help bring the stars back here is so worth it!

Let’s do it! I just turned off my light in preparation! Practicing…how beautiful will it be to actually see stars in San Diego as if we were in Alpine? Can’t wait!
