hello
It’s called social bookmarking.
Digg.com let’s you “dig” or rate stuff you like on the internet so that other people can find it. The more people that “dig” something the more people see it and so on.
Del.icio.us is sharing cool sites in a similar way, but it is also a way for you to bookmark cool stuff for the public to see as well. So if you bookmark a lot of cool stuff then people might want to see all the other cool stuff you have bookmarked.
Stumbleupon is still different and the same. The whole idea with stumble is that you install a button in your browser and when you click it, it takes you to some random site that you might be interested in, and then like TIVO you say whether you like it or not. THen when you click it again it gets better at finding stuff you like.
So, the socialize this! feature allows people to quickly and easily submit new stuff to digg.com or stumbleupon.com or bookmark it at del.icio.us
Most sites, put a separate link to each on directly on the page, but we decided to not clutter things up too much by just adding the cool button that just says, “Socialize this!”
Oh and thanks for posting this comment because I didn’t realize that I had left a test post in the system, and will now revise it to mention social bookmarking.
