Colorado Leeds CESR Program: Why Talk About Values in Business?
beingzoe 6 months ago | 1 response

Donna Sockell, director of the Curriculum Emphasis on Social Responsibility, discusses the program, the kinds of businesses students want to run, and the kind of business leaders they want to be.

The intention of the program gives all business owners something to think about. Your values shape the very structure and brand of your business, affecting everything your company does, and ultimately how the public will perceive your company. This can not only have serious ramifications for the success of your business, but on society as a whole.

Small groups of students each get a chance to dine with a visiting executive as a way to demystify his or her role as a business leader. The students come away with sharpened presentation and public-speaking skills, as well as insights on the reality of being a business executive. In turn, the visiting executives have the opportunity to reflect on issues they faced which affected their employees, customers and communities. Some executives have even brought the student presentations back to their companies for further discussion.

See this video where Director Donna Sokel goes more in-depth into the program and some of the challenging topics covered.

It’s good to know that there are still people in business who take this seriously, and that students are so interested in it.
