A Silent Forest: The threat of Genetically Engineered Trees
Tamster 9 months ago | 2 responses

Hmmmm….I can hear it now…the kids of the future using the term “round up ready” to talk about any and all trees, just the way we use the terms Xerox or Kleenex. Mega-corporate owned forests! John Muir we need you now!

Money is the source of all evil. Truly, greed will be the end.

Thank you for bringing that to our attention Tammy. Fascinating and disturbing. But what can we do? I guess there is still more to learn and study, but with the world moving so fast in so many different areas of specialization it seems unlikely that humans as a whole can grasp the implications of all these ventures and experiments before something happens. Life just seems like a technological crap shoot right now. Maybe nothing happens, maybe the world is profoundly improved, or perhaps the human species causes it’s own extinction. Who knows.

Willy, I’m not sure that money is the source of evil, but it seems as though there must be a better way. I once heard that power does not corrupt, instead, power attracts the corruptible. Money is a source of power and therefore attracts the corruptible, which is why I think it is important to keep a close eye on the activities of the rich and powerful to ensure that those who are “making things happen” are not of the corruptible variety.

Anyway, I do support experiments in genetic engineering but like Dr. Suzuki said in the above video, perhaps we are moving to fast with it’s use in everyday life and nature.
