Thanksgiving Dessert?
kristen b 2 months ago // 6 responses // Subscribe Home & Family Life Recipes

Hungry for something easy and so yummy?

Try this:

  • 1 (16 ounce) can chocolate syrup
  • 3/4 cup peanut butter
  • 19 ice cream sandwiches
  • 1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 cup salted peanuts (I use chopped Peanut Butter cups instead)
  1. Pour the chocolate syrup into a medium microwave safe bowl and microwave 2 minutes on high. Do not allow to boil.
  2. Stir peanut butter into hot chocolate until smooth. Allow to cool to room temperature.
  3. Line the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish with a layer of ice cream sandwiches.
  4. Spread half the whipped topping over the sandwiches. Spoon half the chocolate mixture over that. Top with half the peanuts. Repeat layers.
  5. Freeze until firm, 1 hour.
  6. Cut into squares to serve.

I’m thinking of serving this up at Thanksgiving in additional to the ole favorites.

What’s your favorite fall dessert?

I make a pretty amazing bread pudding if I can say so myself. When I get more time I will write down the recipe. I tend to use several recipes at once and experiment each time I make something to create my own perfect meal. But I think the bread pudding has been perfected so that I should document it forever!

One year I thought to host a dessert party at my house with friends after everyone was done at the respective family gatherings.

I made the bread pudding mentioned above, as well as fresh fruit tarts, and a chocolate mousse all with drinks and coffee.

What a stupid idea! People came and we had a good time, but the thought of having a gourmet dessert party AFTER thanksgiving dinners has got to be one of the dumbest ideas I’ve followed through on in my life.

But your recipe looks simple, fun, and delicious Kristen! I love chocolate and peanut butter so how could it be bad? Thanks for sharing.

Enough with the recipes. Let’s get eating some of this dessert! Woohoo!

Zoe, next time try the dessert party earlier in the day before the big meal!

Remember “Life is short eat dessert first”!!

I am awaiting your post for the bread pudding! I saw a premade one at Whole Foods on Wednesday that you just needed to pop in the oven and bake, but at $10.00 for a loaf pan size I decided to pass. Ever since then all I have thought about is that darn bread pudding!! Post quickly so I can make some at home!!

I too am waiting for the bread pudding recipe! I loathe to admit it, but this is what I was thinking of having for dessert today.

Crushed Resses Peanut Butter cups over a slice of pumpkin pie, warmed and then topped with whipped cream.

Urgg…going on a diet Monday!

Okay I’ll move the bread pudding up on my todo list. Who knew everybody would be so excited.

At first the Reese’s and pumpkin pie sounds strange, but then I think on it more and it gets better and better. Must get Reese’s and pumpkin pie!
