Greenopolis – Green community and news

I stumbled on the Greenopolis site on MySpace of all places. Someone named LIV was asking to be my “friend”. As MySpace seems to be 99% spam I just assumed that the funny cartoon character wanting to be my friend was some new ploy from the “dating services” to get free links, like the old Joe Camel character.

However, after looking at Liv’s MySpace I was pleased to discover that Liv is actually the ambassador for Greenopolis, an online community and resource foundation for building a greener world. Greenopolis offers a community dedicated to providing tools and resources for greener living, bringing together individuals, business, and communities.

A unique aspect of this devoted green community site is a reward system, granting points for folks who post quality material, shop in their Galleria store, and generally interact on the site. Coming later this year the points will be redeemable for tangible goods and valuable rewards. There is also a quality rating system that allow site visitors to keep the quality level up.

As a “news man” I was most impressed with their media section featuring aggregated feeds of several green news sources including greenbiz.com ,ClimateBiz ,GreenerBuildings.com , and greenercomputing.com . We featured links to GreenBiz.com and GreenerBuildings in previous story postings in both the Green Business and Hardworking Folk communities here at CoTradeCo. These are resources various members of CoTradeCo have consulted before, and it is a real joy to see the aggregated news feed available at Greenopolis as part of their hopefully growing media network.

You can subscribe to the aggregated green news feed here .

The media section will bring what they are calling the Green Broadcasting System (GBS), they say will be the premier source for sustainability news, video, and podcasts. They also have an invitation to companies and organizations interested in syndicating their green business content with Greenopolis. Hopefully once we’ve got the CoTradeCo Green Business community and Recycling resources fully underway we will have something to contribute.

CoTradeCo is dedicated to creating and providing useful resources for community members and we are pleased to provide links to quality sites and feeds like Greenopolis. Just don’t forget to come back and see what else is going on at CoTradeCo ;)
