Let’s vote them all out
Dan Anderson 3 months ago // 4 responses // Subscribe Public Sector Tips, tricks, and advice

As we sit here and watch all the wrangling in Congress and the back and forth finger pointing it makes you wonder why any of them are worth keeping. Both political parties are at fault with all of their pet projects and special interests. The national polls are telling us that the approval rating for congress is around 17%. If you and I got a rating on our personal job performance of 17% we’d be fired that day.

“Enough is enough,” let’s start a movement to remove all of the incumbents on November 4th. All we have to do is vote for whomever is running against the current office holder. I know that you’ll say that this is crazy as “my representative” is good for us and that it’s the other guy that’s the problem. Baloney, these wonderful people who we have voted for and trusted have allowed the mess we’re in to happen. What could a whole new group do that would create a bigger problem than we already have?

If you don’t like any of the names on the ballot write in “Trader Dan” or better yet let’s write in Tina Fey.

I agree!!! Trader Dan it is for me!!

I come to this decision as I am in the middle of re-watching the debate, yes I watched last night I just wanted to drive myself completely crazy! I am so not happy with any of my choices!

And I can tell you it really drives me crazy that so many have been effected by all of this and as I write this I am looking out my window at the (former) Merrill Lynch and Washington Mutual buildings in downtown San Diego. Something has got to change and it has to change soon!

Count me in. Enough is enough. Tina Fey is my vote, or even that stock picking monkey could do a better job than the people that currently hold office.

Put them all on the infamous Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska…
Here is an example of waste without worry by our trusted officials:

The “Bridge to Nowhere, the bridge in Alaska would connect the town of Ketchikan (population 8,900) with its airport on the Island of Gravina (population 50) at a cost to federal taxpayers of $320 million, by way of three separate earmarks in the recent highway bill. At present, a ferry service runs to the island, but some in the town complain about its wait (15 to 30 minutes) and fee ($6 per car). The Gravina Island bridge project is an embarrassment to the people of Alaska and the U.S. Congress. Fiscally responsible Members of Congress should be eager to zero out its funding.

The bridge has become an object of national ridicule and a symbol of the fiscal irresponsibility of many in Congress toward the money entrusted to them by the taxpayers. It has also become an embarrassment to the people of Alaska and to responsible members of Congress who now find themselves tarred by the same brush dipped in the muck of the highway bill.

Amen Kristen! The Alaskan bridge is one of countless examples of the absurdity of government.

What seems even more absurd is that anyone you talk to seems to be aware AND COMPLETELY ACCEPTING of how ridiculous things are in our political system. It’s definitely time to wake up! I’m glad we are discussing these issues here a little bit. Every little conversation, especially in a public sphere, is one more chance to let our politicians know that not only are we onto the game, but we getting “mad as hell” and about to “not take it anymore!”

I’m all for writing in Trader Dan as protest vote. But I am also in favor of Ron Paul and his constitutional ideals, despite issues where I disagree with him. He ‘seems’ more honest and willing to take a stand and initiate some real reform and real action, unlike the two candidates we are stuck with.

Trader Dan and I were speaking on the phone earlier about creating a special website especially for raising awareness over issues such as the Alaskan bridge you’re speaking of and promoting Trader Dan for President of course! We’ll see if we can do anything with that in time. It would be nice to provide a resource (as objective as possible ;) at least for bringing attention to potential issues that might otherwise be missed in the mainstream media.

Enough ranting, I don’t have time to get into details and ranting about my personal political views right now. I’m trying to build a website here! Back to posting new products!

Trader Dan

I humbly accept your nomination as the ‘official write-in candidate’ for the presidential 2008 elections!

When I’m elected you can be sure that ice cream containers will go back to being half gallon and we’ll have flying cars!
