I lost a very dear friend several years back. Although I think of her often, this time of year I remember her yearly making of Carmels. She would always make 2 batches 1 for her husband and 1 batch for her and I. It was always a surprise when she did it. She would show up at work and say she had a surprise. I would be handed a little packet wrapped in foil. I know a big smile crossed my face, and she would always tell me don’t worry there’s more, I made a batch just for you and I! We would eat carmels for a week. It was truly the best! She gave me the recipe the year before she died. I have decided this will be the first year I give my hand at it. I wanted to share with the rest of you as well. And I know a few of you will be handed a small packet wrapped in foil. I hope you will enjoy as much as I have.

What a great way to remember a friend!
Thank you for sharing. These look good. I might try making these, and I will remember Verilyn as well!
Share pictures (and bring some to a meeting ;) when you make your batch!
