I really wanted to share this with everyone didn’t know if this is the right community.
Last week as I was picking my son up from fall baseball around 8:00 in the evening I arrived at the field to utter ciaos. In the middle of batting practice the lights went out, baseballs were all over the out field, with helmets, gloves and bats scattered through out the dugout. I took advantage of this opportunity to show off my new toy (actually a sample) the Pelican 9450 Remote Area Lighting System. I wrestled with the light not ever putting it together in the dark but when I turned the 9450 on it lite up the entire dugout all the way out past the in field.
The coach’s were focused on the kids and gear but other dads spent the next 30 minutes playing with the light. I actually got great reviews on the light power or lumens but most thought it was too heavy and bulky. One of the dad’s, Allen is a photographer and does a lot of outdoor shots was very interested but needs something easier to carry and set up then the Pelican 9450. I referred Allen to Cotradeco to look at the Pelican 9430 lighting system thinking it would be suit his needs more being that it is lighter and it only takes a few seconds to set up.
This is the reason my trunk is full samples I never know when I will have an opportunity to show off these gadgets. The best part was my son Caleb telling all the kids they should see all the other toy’s my dad has.
That’s a great story Jackson. That is exactly the kind of story we love to hear from people on the trading post about the products we carry in the store catalog.
Hopefully your story will encourage some of our store customers to get involved on the community side of the trading post. We are eager to meet everybody.
Thank you again for sharing.
I wonder how easy this would be to pack in for a hike to cave? We have some great lava tubes here in the NW on Mt St Helens – could this be used for the campsite as well as to take in to the cave?
Kristen, I think the 9450 would be awkward unless you had a nice flat run in for a bit and you wanted to set up a staging area inside. But if it was easy going and you really wanted to get a good view the 9450 would certainly light up a big ole chamber no problem. It’s wheeled and has an extendable handle so as long as the going was easy you’d be alright. But as Jackson pointed out it ain’t no light light.
The 9430 would be a much better choice if there were any tricky areas. You’re going to get as much illumination but this compacts down into a large lantern flashlight that can be carried.
Good question though. Honestly I don’t know much about spelunking and the type of gear they use, so I shouldn’t be saying much anyway.
I think Jason and his friends took some pics on a camping trip with the 9450. I’ll see if I can get him to post those so you can see how much it lights up.
Kristen, I think the 9430 would be great for car camping, it might be a little too heavy for any long hikes, it still weights 22lbs. We took the 9450 up to Palomar Mountain and it took up a lot of room plus it’s heavy and awkward to move around as Trader Dan mentioned. The 9450 did light up the camp ground and you can recharge either light with your car.

It’s cool that you were able to save the day with the 9450.
I would be interested to see what a photographer has to say about the 9430 and if it is something that he would actually use for photographic lighting or as general portable work lighting while setting up, but not necessarily for actually lighting the shot.
Thanks for sharing the story.
The two lights Jackson is referring to are the Pelican 9450b and the Pelican 9430 both of which are available through the CoTradeCo store catalog.
This would be a good time to mention that we still have a couple of the original 9450’s that we are blowing out at incredible prices.
