The late great State of California. KILLED by the legislature. Those idiots who think only of thmselves and will not pass a budget.

I get so frustrated by politics Dave, I barely pay attention anymore. And yet, I guess that makes me just as selfish in a not very self-serving sort of way. In other words I guess I’m part of the problem despite my periodic bitching.

I dig the visual poetry. Not only did the legislature kill California, but it was being split apart by divisive politics and an apathetic people.

I’m curious if those are simply old photos or if you use some kind of lighting technique?

Zoe: The photo is how you see it, no special effects. People like hospital emergency rooms who depend on Medical repayments, College students who depend on State
loans, Vendors who sell to the state, state employees,
those who need state wellfare, and those on state disability have no income with out a budget. The Legislature does not care they have their income. Talk with everyone you meet. I propose a ballot initiative to:
1. Each day with no budget Legislatures get no pay
2. The Legislature stays in session with no breaks until a budget is passed.

Those sound like reasonable solutions Dave. Clearly there needs to be some sort of incentive and/or repercussion for not managing to handle the states business. The business they were elected to do. Really, I think a representative government exists so that I shouldn’t have to worry so much about state, national, and international affairs, trusting that our representatives will do their job according to the platforms and stances we elected them on in the first place. Alas that has never been true, and while not a perfect system, there could be worse. Nonetheless, it doesn’t mean we should throw our hands in the air and give up continuing to improve.

These mini-rants never come out like they are in my head, but you get the idea.

Keep the pics and commentary coming. I will continue to talk to people and do better to keep up on politics so I can be a part of an informed useful discussion that could result in a better more responsive government and society.
