BYU comes in as my 10th ranked team in the country. So yes, that means 2 mid majors in my overall Top 15. I think parity is well on its way to ruling College Football. I believe BYU could go undefeated this year. At worst, they finish with 1 loss.
I feel this confident in this team because they return literally all of their starters on offense. This offense in unstoppable, especially in the Mountain West Conference. This team has a ton of leadership, starting with Quarterback Max Hall. He is a playmaker in the highest regard. Their head coach Bronco Mendenhall is one of the brightest offensive minds in the game. Since he’s been at the helm, their offense has been prolific to say the least. This years offense tops them all. The are absolutely loaded at WR and RB, and their line is sensational. All that talent and skill, and then you add Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year Hall, and you are set. Flat out, teams won’t be able to keep up with this offense.
The defense is “rebuilding” as they only return 3 starters. Crazy enough, outside of 1 lost starter, all the replacements might be better. This teams defense is underrated, and that has alot to do with the coaching. I feel confident that their defense will be just as good as previous years, and easily finishing in the Top 25 in total defense. They have solid, smart playmakers who simply know how to play football.
Overall, their schedule is solid. They have the Mountain West Conference league schedule to contend with. They will go undefeated through league. Whether they go undefeated or not depends on how they handle their first 5 games. I believe as talented and smart as this team is, combined with their coaching, that they can win all of these games. I fully expect BYU to contend for a BCS berth this year. I have them as my #10 team in the Country.
