I actually left on Thursday and was back in on Monday, so I did have two days of vacation mixed in there!

I don’t really have any experience Mountain Biking (I have a road bike), but I was actually wanting to give it a try. I was trying to get someone to do Muddy Buddy with me before it sold out which would have involved getting out there for at least a few miles ;-)

Hmmm, let’s see… all the products looked great! If I was only sampling one, it would be the sunscreen, but my lips get awfully chapped, especially with the heat, so the lip balm would be awesome too! Of course, I could write a review on how these products stand up to all my hardcore outdoor activities ;-)

Wow, I can’t wait to try this! I spend a lot of time in the sun doing these endurance sports and have a hard time finding stuff that stands up to the ammount I sweat (gross I know) and that doesn’t run into, and burn, my eyes.
I was excited to see Beyond Coastal is not tested on animals as well! Any way I can get some samples to try…? Actually how about sending me samples of this instead of those silly Pelican lights when I win the Halloween Contest ;-) (I am that confident. My costume rocks).

Hi All!
I am back and VERY sore! The race went really, really well. I had been worried because it’s been so darn hot here in San Diego and training all summer was a real challenge, but I actually got my best time ever (My old time was 4:38:53, so not by a ton, but still…)
I am relieved to be done with all the intense running for a little bit, since it really takes away from being able to do the biking, hiking, swimming I also like to do. I am taking a break and just having fun until January!
Next up, the Oceanside Half Ironman in April and the Seattle Rock and Roll Marathon in June!

The marathon is this Saturday and I definetly will NOT be winning (or losing control of my bodily functions for that manner). Honestly, people talk about throwing up and stuff during race but I don’t think it will ever happen to me… I just don’t go that hard I guess.

Anyway, surprises, awesome! You could mail it to UK 13400 Danielson Rd. Poway, CA, or you could just drop it off when we finally meet in person (if you ever get in to visit the CTO). Don’t worry, no one that gives gifts is a stalker in my book (unless the gift is like a pig’s heart and some black roses or something, but even then…)

Ohhhh, I have some really bad stuff. Are you sure you want to know??? You may not respect me anymore… My most embarassing stuff includes Christina Aquillera (Dirrty), Fergalicious, and Cypress Hill (Insane in the Brain) and some pretty ridiculous old school rap (Tenessee, Let Me Clear My Throat, I Got a Man).

(Although to be fair it also has The White Stripes, Led Zepellin, Modest Mouse, Pinback, Arcade Fire, Fiest so I do enjoy at least SOME music that is critically well-regarded)

Thanks guys, these are all great suggestions and I even have some of them (Grove is in the Heart and Magic Carpet Ride). It’s so funny, there are a lot of things I listen to when I run I would be embarassed for anyone to find on my I-Pod, but they really get me going!

Zoe:

Actually the reviews of at the AV Club’s TV club have been only okay. I have stuck with it so far (yikes! don’t be mad at me Zoe) but mainly because it is filling some sort of empty paranormal hole the X-Files/Buffy left in my heart.

I keep waiting for it to do something interesting however since so far it’s just been Pacey from Dawson’s creek acting annoyed, his dad acting crazy, and the lady agent looking wide-eyed…

When I lived in NYC, I was right down the street from Peanut Butter & Co. They had a variety of tasty PB sandwiches but I loved the peanut better and jelly milkshake… yum!!!

Thanks a lot Zoe, now I’m hungry…

UK Case Lady

YES YES YES
Some things are far better when they come from trucks like ice cream, funnel cakes, and TV sets (much cheaper if you buy them out of the back of a truck). Anyway, I get tamales every weekend at the Farmer’s Market where I pay 7 dollars for 3 (so I think you got a deal Zoe). I love the Roasted Poblano and Sweet corn, but the lady I go to has all sorts of crazy flavors like pumpking and spinach and feta. Check out a review here.
They’re an awesome snack to have around

What can I say… my cat expertise knows no limits.

UK Case Lady

Looks like maybe a Maine Coon to me…

Wow, I thought I had a big cat (he’s 18 pounds), but those other two Zoe posted have him beat!

Thanks for doing the research Zoe… but I did actually end up installing a plugin :). Disabling the Rich Text editor works perfectly for blogs that are hosted by WordPress, but not ones that are hosted by an outside source (like mine is). It seems like there should be an easier fix than having to install a plugin, but I couldn’t find it and to be totally honest I am not very tech-savy (I can find solutions online and apply them, but I don’t always understand why they work).

Okay, I uploaded a few to my Picassa album to share here#, mainly of my cousins and I in our flyfishing gear (I am the one in the blue shirt), and the blizzard we all got to play around in up in the hills.

Hey, we have a house in Park City, Utah! I have to at least attempt snowboarding. Personally I still haven’t figured out quite why anyone would want to strap a board to both of their feet and hurl themselves down a mountain, but I guess other folks don’t understand why I would want to run 26.2 miles, so it all works out :)

UK Case Lady

Utah is pretty amazing and, if you can stand the altitude, there are some great trails for running, and biking. I am still learning to snowboard so I have mainly been there in the summer to hike and hangout, although I got up there a few times last winter and snowshoes/fell down a lot trying to snowboard. What negative experiences have you had there Zoe?
I have some more pictures I can share to convince you that you should give it another try… how do I put them in a response like this?

Yum, Spinach! In the past, I’ve belonged to a CSA (a good choice if you have very limited backyard space like me) and so I got different seasonal veggies every month, but I never tried growing my own. I LOVE beets and spinach though so I may have to give it a shot this winter. Thanks!

Hi Lauren:
I have actually been looking to do this for a while, but apart from a few pots of herbs I feel intimidated! Any tips for getting started?

The new site looks great!

Pet rats, hun? I always curious about what kind of pets they make…
I currently just have Charlie, although on the weekends I volunteer with an animal rescue organization and I am constantly tempted by the never-ending stream of abandoned kittens. I also get plenty of quality time with my parents’ dogs, a King Charles Caviler and a half chihuahua type thing that I think looks like a C.H.U.D but is oddly endearing.

Hi Dave:
If you are looking for a natural mosquito repellant, Bert’s Bees makes a really great one. It has rosemary, lemongrass, and some citrus oils. Anyway, I took it camping last weekend and not only did it keep the bugs away, it satisfied by closet-hippy need for a product that was natural and cruelty free!

Zoe, are you accusing me of using a fake duck to stage adorable photos???!!! I am offended!

Also, I’m a little surprised no one else took this opportunity to brag about their pets. Come on, CoTradeCo people, does no one else have an adorable cat, dog, or duck they want to show off?

“If you believe in freedom then you believe in the hot dog. There is no middle-ground. Either you eat hot dogs or you are against us.”

I happen to eat veggie-dogs. Does this still mean I believe in freedom, or do actual pork products need to be involved for me to be “with us.”

UK Case Lady

I love this show too!!! I was very sad when the season was cut short by the strike…

UK Case Lady

I think one of the things that intrigued me most when I got into Dexter was how the show was going to manage to have the character grow over the course of a season. I mean for most season long dramas, the characters change, learn, etc from episode to episode (like Tony Soprano, Vic Mackey, Buffy to name a few of the main characters from some of my favorite hour-longs). In Dexter, since the whole show is based around the idea that he is a person without feelings and incapable of growth, I was really curious to see whether the show could get past “murder of the week” type structure to have some over-arching themes and character developments. How could there be any sort of character-based crisis for someone whose whole problem is he is so disaffected? Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by how the show handled everything and (no spoilers) how the 1st season ended :)
As for the CBS stuff, they attempted to air Dexter during the writer’s strike to fill airspace, but I am pretty sure it didn’t really pan out since I haven’t heard about it since. It was my understanding they didn’t really have to edit the violence as much as they did “adult content” which is has interesting connotations for American Culture on the whole… You can read an article about the editing here.

Hi Zoe:

I am glad to be here! As you probably noticed, I did manage to get a picture up today, I just had to make sure I found one that really conveyed my UK Case Lady-ness. I definitely plan on joining some communities and putting up way more content over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for all of that.

RE: Modest Mouse, I love them, they have to be one of my all time favorite bands. Although I definitely can understand what you are saying about ONLY wanting to listen to them once you get started (I think We Were Dead Before… was like the only CD in my player for about 4 months straight!) Who else do you like?

UKCASELADY

PS: Just being a person with AWESOME taste is what makes me prone to liking Escape From NY (how could you not like Snake Pliskin?) and Baseball :)

UK Case Lady

Thanks Milo! We just took it… it’s a little blurry, but what can you do???
