About CoTradeCo
Staff

It takes a number of places to make a crazy trading post and community like CoTradeCo operate.

The main characters

Trader Dan

Now here is mysterious fella with a long history. Some might say infamous, others might use the word sordid, but even Trader Dan will admit it’s mostly legend, though the word of mouth has never hurt him any. As you wander the site you will learn a lot more about ole’ Dan, but for now let’s just say that he runs things around here.

Bobbie the fortune teller

Well every good trading post (and roadside attraction) needs a fortune teller. For years Dan had traveled with the mysterious Old Sonya, a gypsy with an unknown past. Trader Dan trusted her no end, but her mind readin’ future tellin’ powers were spotty at best, but Dan believed her an old friend and kept her on anyway. After years of taking care of Old Sonya, Gizmo headed over to the Trading Post showroom floor and discovered it empty. When they all discovered Old Sonya gone, well they put two and two together. Trader Dan was less upset about the stuff being stolen than the fact that Old Sonya had betrayed him.

Years passed and Trader Dan swore he’d never hire another fortune teller again. But on a trip to Jersey for a trading convention he was introduced to Bobbie through a mutual friend. He didn’t know at the time she was a fortune teller, and well as it turned out they ended up fallin’ in love and hitchin’ up within the month. It wasn’t until Trader Dan got back to Coachella with his new wife that he found out Bobbie was THE FAMOUS Bobbie the fortune teller from Atlantic City.

And well, the rest is history.

Gizmo T. Jakpor

This guy is a flat out technical genius. If it is electronic, mechanical, or digital in any way, Gizmo can build it or fix it.

Gizmo just showed up on day at the CoTradeCo property in Coachella and stood out on the road staring into the welcome center. Trader Dan being a hospitable fella (despite the legends) finally wandered outside and invited him for supper. Gizmo followed him in and as they sat down to eat, Trader Dan tried to turn on his old radio, but it just came on with a click, pop, and a psssst with a little smoke for a bonus.

Gizmo hopped up pulled out some kinda crazy Swiss Army knife out of a sci-fi picture with tools Trader Dan had never even seen before and a couple minutes later had pulled the radio apart and had it back together again with sweet music pouring out cleaner sounding that it had ever had before.

And that’s how Gizmo ended up living at the Trading post full time. Some say he is an alien from outer space or the future or something. But Gizmo just says he is from Nigeria. Bobbie says Gizmo’s last name, “Jakpor,” means, “I have come to stay or stranded in this world.” Most folks think that clinches the alien story, but Trader Dan just shakes his head and says, “Nah, it just means he’s stuck workin’ for me out here in the desert.”

Some of the other staff

Dan Anderson

While it is confusing having two Dan’s around CoTradeCo, Dan Anderson doesn’t mind being mixed up with the real Trader Dan. Though, come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Trader Dan and Dan in the same room at the same time together.

At any rate Dan Anderson is the one who supplied the land for Trader Dan out in Coachella when Trader Dan was finally tired of travelin’ around and ready to setup his own trading post. And it was Dan Anderson and Gizmo who had the visionary idea to take the great thing Trader Dan had built in the desert and put it online for everybody to share.

zoe somebody

zoe is old friends with Dan Anderson. They had worked together on the web presence for Dan’s old company. Once Dan, Gizmo, and Trader Dan had gotten all worked up about puttin’ CoTradeCo on the “interweb” (as Trader Dan stubbornly insists on calling it), they asked zoe to come on in with his creative flair and mystical powers as a visionary.

Stacy Degraffenreid

Stacy had worked with Dan Anderson at his previous company as well. She’s a fireball that keeps everything runnin’ smooth around here, and is one tough trader. But when you need something, she’s got the facts, the know-how, and the energy to make it happen. You’ll like dealing with Stacy.

Jason Mouratides

Zoe and Jason go way back. I think they met back in the day when zoe was workin’ at one of them drive through coffee shacks, and after a funny conversation over the intercom zoe climbed out the window and got in Jason’s car. They are kinda like Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid (or maybe Abbott and Costello). Jason is kinda like Gizmo, they just make magic happen with that technical stuff.

Milo Plurnbottom

Well, that’s me. I’m the writer, editor, and publisher of the CoTradeCo broadside a local paper here at the trading post. And if you didn’t guess I write most of the copy here on the website. Everybody around here helps out, but really it’s my job. So you’ll be hearing from a lot around here.
