General privacy statement from the folks at CoTradecCo

COTRADECO WILL NOT SELL YOUR CUSTOMER OR PERSONAL INFORMATION OR MAKE SUCH INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THIRD PARTIES OUTSIDE FOR ANY REASON. We take spam and privacy very seriously. We don’t like SPAM and assume you don’t either. We also believe in full disclosure of our business practices and methodologies, so this privacy policy might not read like a typical privacy policy, it does do it’s best to outline as specifically as possible what information is used on the site, where, and how. Community privacy

CoTradeCo offers an online social networking and community blog service which require you to have a SPOT account login to make new posts, respond to posts, send messages to other people in the communities, and build social networks. Our community sites do have features to alert you when people contact you through the site or respond to you in some way on the site, but you can always opt out, turning off these notifications in your SPOT account settings.

CoTradeCo community features do track page views per SPOT profile and community rating information entered by community members. These features are part of our service to help you better use our site and for people to help find useful and popular resources on our sites. Where this information is being tracked it will be displayed with the item being tracked. (e.g. How many times your SPOT has been viewed; How many times your community blog post has been viewed;)

Community implies public

Obviously any information you enter to be shared on the community is no longer private. So please use common sense and only post information you don’t mind other people seeing.

Community private messaging functionality

We do have an onsite private message system. Information sent via private message is stored in our databases until deleted by the recipient. The private message data should be considered as private and secure as any email you might send. So while it is relatively private and we will ensure the security of it on our system, use the same awareness of what you enter in a private message as you would with any email correspondence.

Trading post, catalog, online story privacy

As well as offering community services, we are an active online store and business service. Our trading post and catalog sites may send emails from time to time regarding new product offerings, but you can opt out of these as well. When placing orders with CoTradeCo, confirmation and information emails will be sent, including reciept/invoice, possible shipping tracking, and thank you emails requesting customer feedback from transactions, which are not optional as part of our routine committment to exceptional customer service, and will only be recieved when conducting business with CoTradeCo.

While customers and community members share common login info for convenience, customer/business related data is separate from, and requires a separate physical login, and is never mixed or co-mingled with community member data. DATA COLLECTED TRANSACTING BUSINESS WITH COTRADECO IS NOT MIXED WITH COMMUNITY INFORMATION, except for login info.

Community Partners

CoTradeCo does have Community Partners who utilize our community, community blog, and social networking tools. These partner sites DO SHARE SPOT account profile and login information to enable single sign-on functionality, but DO NOT SHARE ORDER OR CUSTOMER ACCOUNT INFO. While a Community Partner might operate a separate website, these sites are intimately involved with CoTradeCo and considered a singular community. This allows you to post and interact on any of our community sites without having to login multiple times. Logically speaking, the information shared with our community partners is information that is entered by you generally for access by the public at large anyway (excepting login/password info). CoTradeCo WILL NEVER SHARE FINANCIAL, ADDRESS, CONTACT OR OTHER BUSINESS INFORMATION WITH THIRD PARTIES OR COMMUNITY PARTNERS unless you have chosen to do so through our sites. COMMUNITY PARTNER IS NOT A BUSINESS PARTNER for the purposes of customer data.

Who are our community partners?

At the time of this writing we have three community partners who use all or part of our community technology on their sites:

CoTradeCo’s web servers automatically recognize and collect common information anonymously in aggregate form only for internal review. Email addresses are not automatically collected.

Information we collect and how we use it

Business trasnsaction information

Business transactions collect information such as name, mailing/billing/email/phone/other contact information, credit card and other payment information. This information is only used to conduct business with you in the most convenient and secure methods possible. Contact info is used for such things as authenticating accounts, subscription email services (meaning you never get anything you didn’t ask for and even if we accidentally did, you can always opt out).

No information entered during a business transaction will ever be shared in CoTradeCo communities.

However, we do give the option to have a public community SPOT during checkout online to help build and grow our communities but makes no change to the data separation and privacy as discussed on this page. Note though that

Community information

Community participation and any information publicly posted to our servers by you while participating in our communities may be used on our sites in the public method it was posted as. We will always contact you if we would like to use any content or information published to our sites by you for any other purpose, such as for customer/community member testimonials.

If you expect a piece of information to be private please do post that personal/private information to the CoTradeCo communities.

CoTradeCo uses all information it collects to improve functionality, like search and site navigation, new product offerings, and content development.

We use Google analytics and follow all best practices as laid out in their guidelines. We use the Google Analytics tools and Webmaster tools to improve content, improve our promotional activity, and to determine what areas of our site and business we should continue to grow and expand. All information used at Google Analytics is used in anonymous and aggregate form and cannot be explicitly traced back to any one person.

CoTradeCo does not share any personal or identifiable information with third parties.

Telephone numbers provided on-line will be called only if CoTradeCo has questions specific to your trading post or order requests.

If users provide their email or mailing address, CoTradeCo will send notifications, such as order confirmations, via email. Users may also receive occasional offers from CoTradeCo or CoTradeCo’s special partners. Users may opt out at any time.

Log in to your SPOT or contact CoTradeCo to update or remove personal information.

In the future, CoTradeCo may update this privacy policy to reflect unanticipated practices not outlined in this policy. These changes will be posted to the website, and users are invited to occasionally review the privacy policy. But know that we will never participate in SPAM activities or contribute to companies or resources who do. We are a small company with high values and ethics that we hope to convey with every action we take.
