How to use the HRC calculator

Electrical, fire, and all qualified workers must achieve an HRC level 2 ATPV cal/cm^2 rating to be in compliance with OSHA.

Below are various layers of Benchmark FR and NON-FR clothing. Experiment with different combinations to see how the differnt options affect your rating.

Your results, interpretations, and HRC TOTALS for upper and lower body protection will be shown to the right.

Please note that while there are some silly things going on in the calculator, FR and ARC prevention and protection are not a joke. The ATPV cal/cm^2 and HRC values can only be considered accurate for the Benchmark FR products listed in combination with other Benchmark FR products.

Generally speaking, the combined ATPV cal/cm^2 of layered clothing is higher than the sum of the FR protective items being layered. Layered Benchmark FR clothing has been tested and proven to give a +5 increase to the ATPV cal/cm^2 value over a single layer. This is considered in the calculator.
